Redlands girl to kick off Jerry Lewis telethon

Abbey Umali, 11, of Redlands, will become the first child ever to open the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, to be broadcast from Las Vegas this weekend. Abbey is serving her third term as a national goodwill ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neuromuscular disorder that leads to muscle weakness.
